Day 28: Tuesday, May 2

The weather held up as it was another beautiful day. It is apparent why Montana is called "Big Sky Country."

Unfortunately, Shayne got another flat tire this morning. He is getting a little frustrated since this is his fourth flat so far, and I haven't had one yet. We stopped to check out Earthquake Lake and Hebgen Dam.

We gained almost 1,700 feet as we rode over 72 miles from Ennis to West Yellowstone. Along the way, we saw huge herds of elk and several bison.

West Yellowstone is just outside Yellowstone National Park and the Wyoming border. It also marks the completion of the fourth section. Tonight we are staying in the Dude Motel. All of the campgrounds were either closed or covered in snow and the hostel wasn't open yet. However, it has been getting cold outside at night, so Shayne and I didn't mind splurging on a hotel tonight. Tomorrow, we are going to have to check the conditions of the road inside the park. There is the possibility that they are covered in snow, and that we will have to ride around.
